Mission to Egypt

April 2000 - September 2001

Week of March 4 2001

Mt. Sinai

"We had a hurried trip to Sinai since we had to be back in Cairo before it got dark. It was a five hour drive one way, and we had to leave at 5:00 a.m. in order to be home by 6:00 p.m. that evening. That only gave us a couple of hours there before we had
to start back."

St. Catherine's Monastery
Ruins of Dimai

"At Dimai, there are still many walls standing majestically in the desert. They are made of straw bricks and are not laid in straight horizontal lines, but in wavy ones. This is where the poorer classes lived, and these ruins have been pretty much ignored by archeologists. At some point their enemies came in and wrecked havoc."
Medune Pyramid

"The wind always blows. We had a tailgate picnic for lunch and our bread was dry before we could take a bite out of it."
