Mission to Egypt

April 2000 - September 2001

Week of October 29, 2000

"We had a fun outing to a crystal factory here. It was really impressive to visit the showroom. I've never seen so many crystal chandeliers in one place, and some of them are huge, like the one in the London Temple. Our friend took a picture of us there. I purchased a large crystal to hang on a chain in our dining room where the sunlight can bounce
off it and send sparkling lights around the room."
"We had dinner with an Egyptian family. It was interesting to see how they reacted to our American style food. They all loved the funeral potatoes, of course. We had American ice cream and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (like Miriam makes) for dessert.
I sent a dozen home with each family, so it was fun for them and for us."

"We know for sure that we are giving the Ministering Angels challenges with all our driving
around Cairo. Never a dull moment when we are on the road, especially when we are not quite sure where are."

"We are still safe here in Egypt. So far all the trouble has been in other countries but we still need to be cautious."
